aryn Mahan is a pen name. No particular reason involved in the choice to use one other than I always wanted to be Caryn. My legal middle name is Karen and I loved the new spelling better. Mahan is my mother's maiden name, and I wished to honor her. She raised a strong daughter, gave me values that have carried me through life. I am now 66 and happy to be 66. Life has been a journey filled with pain, love, and hope. A life I treasure.
A work accident forced me into an early retirement. My days now are filled with writing, breeding my beloved Boston Terriers (a wonderful breed, check them out), silversmithing, spending time with my grandchildren either in person or following them on social media, and caring for my older horse, Annie. I can ride no longer after my accident. Saddened me, but all things pass.
Writing has always been a goal. Doing so in the past as a single mother raising four children was difficult to say the least. But now I'm free to WRITE!
