Joy is an author and philanthropic advisor in Austin TX. CeeGee's Gift is her second book and began as a one act play when she was living in Friday Harbor WA. It was a winner of the San Juan Islands Playwrights' Festival and was produced for the stage, also winning the Audience Choice Award.
After moving back to Texas, Joy expanded the story to a novel, set on a small island on the Texas Coastal Bend. The novel manuscript won the Writer's League of Texas Award for Best Young Adult Fiction.
Joy's first book was You Don't LOOK Sick! Living Well with Invisible Chronic Illness and was co-written with her physician. The book remains in print and Joy and Dr. Overman have travelled throughout the country speaking to patient groups about building a meaningful life with long term illness.
Joy was formerly a university writing instructor at Arizona State University, and spent 14 years as an investment advisor.
