Vanessa Ravel has always wondered what makes people tick. An epidemiologist by trade, she has turned her inquisitive mind from science to the human condition with her debut dark fantasy Four o’Clock Alice.
Her writing tends to plumb the depths of the human condition, sometimes only scraping up black sludge but other times hooking an abyss-dwelling leviathan and casting it to the surface. She makes sure to leave a light on for the reader somewhere, though, because even the darkest dark fantasy fan scrambles for the night light when the nightmare is too real.
She lives in Southern California with a pack of errant small dogs and the abiding spirit of their pack leader, Dudley.
