Many years ago, Yuri saw the old Disney show, Earth Star Voyager, a story about the dangerous space journey of young cadets who travel into deep space to save all of humanity. That's what a good sci-fi YA show should be--smart, interesting, with heroes in whom you can believe and heroes whom you can become: not gods or wizards, but real people who decide their own destinies and achieve their targets with hard work and iron will.
Hamaganov liked this story a great deal and, to be honest, still believes that Earth Star Voyager is cool--much cooler than Star Wars. But that wonderful series never continued, and Hamaganov is really mad about this!
But if no one created a sequel to your favorite story and if no one wrote a similar book, then why not write it yourself? In the end, if you want to do something good, do it yourself.
