About the Author

Philip Rivera is the grown-up version of Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes, after he moved to the suburbs, got married, and bought a minivan.

He’s a follower of Jesus, author, family man, teacher, and suburban visionary who sees adventure in life’s mundane moments. His first book, Suburban Luchador: the Cul-de-sac Chronicles, is a collection of humorous stories and observations about everyday life told through an imaginative lens.

His tales celebrate the magic in mundane life and humor in the humdrum. Events like bath-time with kids transform into all-out naval battles and pregnancy cravings result in a heroic midnight quest for corn muffins. Each short story is a celebration of fatherhood, family, and faith.

Whether you're a parent, married, single, or just bored -- he reminds us that adulthood does not have to kill imagination.
