I have a varied and eclectic background. Among other things, I've performed baroque dance, taught electrical and environmental classes, and studied multiple martial arts. Even the course to my PhD in Biology and Society was wide-ranging, with peer-reviewed publications on topics as diverse as the origin of dinosaur feathers, mitochondrial biology, and the philosophy of multilevel selection.
But through all of my experiences, I am and have been a storyteller and world builder.
When I'm not writing, I'm probably wishing I was outdoors hiking or kayaking. I am also an avid gamer--be it video, board, or card games--and cook, and enjoy undertaking (and sometimes even finishing) home improvement projects or crafting intricate chainmaille jewelry and armor.
I live with my wife and young sons--who have a remarkable capacity for consuming the time I should be writing--in southeast Houston, just down the road from NASA.
