About the Author

Cory Q Tan is a Children’s Book Author who illustrates his own books, or rather a Children’s Book Illustrator who writes his own stories, as he considers himself first an artist then a writer.
He graduated from The Slade School of Fine Art (London) in 1997, spending most of his time on printmaking (some etching but mainly lithography) in the picturesque printmaking department that seemed stuck in time. His friends always told him that his works ‘seemed to tell a story’, and to produce a series of works that could string together as a story had always been his dream. For him, nothing is more beautiful and satisfying than to marry Art and Story-telling, and Children’s Picture Books presented just the right medium for him.
But it wasn't 21 years later before he finally produced his first picture book ’A Very Special Cat’ (2018), followed closely in the same year by ’A Hero’s Cape’. In 2019, he produced four more titles: ’A Dream’, Theodore the Unfortunate Bear’, ’A Family Dinner’ and his first sequel in a series- ’Theodore and the Lady in the Purple Dress’.
His favourite past time is watching Marvel movies with his two boys, and his favourite hero is Iron-man, as he was a self-made hero who rose out of adversity and constantly innovates to create a better version of himself. His dreams that one day, his books would become bedtime classics that would bring joy and laughter to children and Mums and Dads around the world.
