Former CID Detective with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary turned crime fiction writer, James D Mortain brings compelling action and gritty authenticity to his writing through years of police experience.
He began writing in 2012, following a chance encounter in a Bath bar with SAS veteran and author, Chris Ryan. His best selling debut STORM LOG-0505, is the first novel in a gripping series featuring Bath-based detective, Andrew 'Deano' Deans. He has also written THE NIGHT SHIFT (A Short Story), and the second book in the Detective Deans Series - DEAD BY DESIGN - out now!.
James is a huge Bath Rugby fan, having first supported his team at The Rec in 1977. He doesn't get to see them as much since moving to North Devon, but his passion for the club never dwindles.
In 2014, while James was writing his first novel, he contracted Viral Meningitis. Extremely sick for many months and still medicated today, James is proudly supporting the Meningitis Research Foundation by donating a percentage from all sales of DEAD BY DESIGN.
